Powerful Women

Lady Gaga is one of the most powerful women in America, according to Forbes. I am one of the few people in my age bracket who even knows who Lady Gaga is. I have some of her songs on my iPhone and also follow her on Twitter and Facebook. Based on these statistics, Lady Gaga is a part of my life.

But if you ask me who I think the most powerful women are in my life, well, I have to say it is the women who I see every day. My female boss, for example, is pretty powerful in my little circle. Her decisions and moods can turn my life upside down in a flash or can help me accomplish my goals. For my little world, she is one powerful chick.

Even the female parking lot attendant can impact me each day by giving me a big smile or ignoring me when I leave her parking lot. Such a brief little interaction with another person seems to have an affect on me. The result of this interaction can impact how I feel. I would call that power, too.

There are also other women in my life that I seldom see, but are also pretty darn powerful in my life. These are my family members. These are women who just have to clear their throat or insinuate they really want to see me again and I will juggle everything for a weekend flyby. They have that much influence over me.

Even though Forbes ranks Lady Gaga with a lot of power based on their formula, she doesn’t really impact me that much. Yes, she makes me smile with her music and her crazy outfits. I also admire her. But in my world day-to-day survival, the dames I interact with each day as well as those with that special genetic connection called “mom,” have the power to pull my strings in ways like no one else can. For me, that is real power and who are the most powerful women in my life.
